Our school is a beautiful community school dedicated to develop the spiritual lives of its learners. Our school is the oldest Roman-Catholic school in Akron. We encompass learners from 13 area-school districts and teach children pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Our purpose is to create a Catholic atmosphere in which the learners internalize their true purpose in life and come to an understanding of the traditions of the Roman-Catholic faith. We strive to keep Christ in our mind, body, and heart every day. Academically, we work to challenge learners to achieve their best by using their God-given talents and abilities. We provide opportunities to stimulate physical, psychological, emotional, social, and the spiritual well-being of all of our learners. Our dedication to academic excellence and Catholic principles has made St. Vincent de Paul Parish School an outstanding school, educating children since 1853.
St. Vincent de Paul Parish School has a wide array of opportunities that stimulate and support learner success, both inside and outside of the classroom. We offer full-day or half-day pre-kindergarten beginning at 3 ½ years of age. We focus on academic excellence and individualized attention that will excel learners to the best of their abilities. We are a parish school, we are dedicated to our Catholic faith and work to instill the values and traditions of the faith. We have a comprehensive academic program including Religion, Spanish, Technology, Music, and Art. We implement technology throughout each of our classrooms with state-of-the art resources and materials including iPads and Smartboards. Our school Library includes over 9,000 titles plus audio and digital books. Our computer and technology lab incorporate and support 21st century learning, as well as individualized attention. Our daily hot lunch program is one-of-a-kind, offering fresh fruits and vegetables and even includes weekly salad-bar day. Our extracurricular programs help to develop a well-rounded learner including band, sports, and enrichment opportunities. We are able to assist with after-school hours in our After-care program and enrichment opportunities, caring for learners until 5:30 p.m each day school is in-session. As a wonderful way to close-out our challenging and rigorous academic week- we attend mass together each Friday.

This program is a high energy atmosphere with loads of learning opportunities and experiences. The learners learn to become independent thinkers and problem solvers while utilizing many different modes of learning including technology, hands-on activities, and collaborative work groups. Song and dance add some fun to the learning environment and help children understand learning should be exciting.
This program is a calm and nurturing learning setting. Learners explore answers to questions using a variety of methods in order to reach their fullest potential. Learners are always excited in this classroom because cursive handwriting is taught and incorporated into daily activities. Second grade learners become more independent and creative problem solvers inside this classroom. They work to achieve their best while pushing themselves to learn deeper.
This program is a challenging and fun classroom environment. These learners are challenged every day to be their best. Each learner is recognized for different skills and strengths. A variety of hands-on, investigative lessons allow learners to develop skills. Sometimes they are the experts and lead others, while other times they are the apprentice, getting help from another learner. Third grades are problem-solvers, authors, mathematicians, scientists, and explores. Mrs. Waller
refers to her grade as ‘amazing grade’!
This program is a nurturing environment where the arts come to life. The learners enthusiastically embrace the Reader’s Theater experience, in which they are videotaped acting out works of literature in a vibrant learning activity. Math and Science come to life as well, through the use of hands-on activities and projects geared toward real-life applications of mathematical concepts.
This program is a unique environment with high standards. The love of God as well as valuing the dignity of all people as a member of the global community is at the center of all learning. Learners are taught to be generous, honest and respectful. In keeping with their development of fifth graders, learners are taught to be confident, independent learners who take increasing responsibility for their work.
This program is full of the wonderful world of numbers and all that they can do. Learners aren’t afraid to answer and take risks with their learning inside this atmosphere. All answers, correct and incorrect, are examined for understanding.
This program is a rigorous and knowledgeable educational setting. The background of this classroom has a foundation from medical technology which includes biology, chemistry and a multitude of courses in math, physics, and geology. The knowledge and expertise in this class provides an environment where learners are challenged to think critically and problem solve.
This program is an incredible learning environment. Learners are surrounded with love in an inviting atmosphere. This helps to promote a sense of comfort and security. As these young adults begin to look toward their journey to high school, their emotional well-being and development will be embraced and strengthened. This program leads to increased academic achievements and a sense of pride and belonging in our community.
Our Spanish program is a unique addition to our St. Vincent de Paul Parish School. This Spanish curriculum integrates our Catholic faith, technology, reading, writing, and language arts into the foundational components of the Spanish language. Our Spanish class is a required course for all learners in Kindergarten through eighth grade. Every learner, from kindergarten through eighth grades, has class twice a week. We pride ourselves on building the foundation of the Spanish language assuring all of our learners attend high school with the knowledge to achieve and soar beyond the basic fundamentals of the language.
Our Art program is a rigorous program where learners express themselves in individual and group projects while striving to think creatively. The arts teach children to make good judgments about qualitative relationships. In this classroom learners understand that problems can have more than one solution and that questions can have more than one answer. We learn to work with others, handle art materials correctly and support our peers in their multiple perspectives. In every art lesson learners also understand other subjects, such as math, science and history. Our learners are introduced to art techniques, art history, and imagination. Most importantly this art class enables students to have experiences they can have from no other source and through such experiences to discover the range and variety of what they are capable of feeling. St. Vincent de Paul's art room produces artists. We pride ourselves on building the foundation of the art curriculum, assuring all of our learners attend high school with the knowledge to achieve and soar beyond the basic
Our Music program gives learners an experience to express themselves. The learners learn to move to music, read rhythms, sing and read notes, learn about composers and listen critically to their music. They learn about instruments and their place in the orchestra and band. Students gain confidence by performing alone and cooperation by performing with others. Music not only helps children learn academic subjects, it adds an important dimension to their entire life. Every learner Kindergarten through eighth grade has music twice a week. Learners are involved in all aspects of a theatre production including acting, props, lighting, costuming, and stage design. We pride ourselves on building the foundation of the music curriculum, assuring all of our learners attend high school with the knowledge to achieve and soar beyond the basic fundamentals.
